Hearing Aid Practitioner
Hi, my name is Margaret Tsang, and I joined the Bow River Hearing family in 2000 as part of the front office staff.
After spending two years in the hearing healthcare industry, my interest grew tremendously. The following year I enrolled in school to become a Hearing Instrument Specialist and have been working to help patients on their better-hearing journey ever since.
With my first-hand hearing loss experience, I understand how it feels being in the hearing impaired world. I believe it has enhanced my ability and my passion to connect others to the “normal hearing” world. I acquired my hearing loss and Tinnitus from an ear infection when I was 14 years old. Over the course of 15 years, my hearing deteriorated without me noticing, which is surprisingly pretty common. I was able to get by, but as time went on, I found myself asking people to repeat themselves. I was having trouble understanding conversations in noisy environments, leading to social withdrawal.
Before Bow River Hearing, I thought hearing was “just” one of the five senses, and I should be “okay” as long as I still have my vision. However, as I learned over time, I found out hearing allows us to connect with people.
The best part of my job is to meet different new people every day. Each patient with hearing loss has a unique case; we can never find the same hearing loss between two people. For me, I am not just here to consult. More importantly, I strive to understand and help each person improve their quality of life and connect with their loved ones.
