We had the best experience working with the staff at Bow River Hearing, from the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by Winkie, her bilingual language skills had greatly assisted with my 96 year old grandma, she thoroughly explained every aspect of setting up the device, and was knowledgable and informative. 19 years ago I started having ringing in my ears( tinnitus). I told my doctor and he asked if it was loud enough that I needed “white noise “to sleep. I didn’t want it to get worse, so I quit singing in my church choir, as that made it louder. It remained fairly constant over the years, but gradually got a bit worse. I heard that hearing aids help so I got a hearing test 2 years ago at Bow River Hearing where my friend went. I had some hearing loss and began wearing hearing aids. They have made a great difference. Now I’m only conscious of slight ringing if I think or talk about it, mostly no tinnitus at all. My husband and I are in our 70’s and x country ski, hike, play tennis and kayak. They even kept working when I fell out of my kayak a month ago!! ( I was only under the water a few seconds). I highly recommend Bow River Hearing and David Lee, their tinnitus specialist.read more

My mother broke her hearing aid and when I called to describe the problem the receptionist invited me to simply stop in at my convenience and she would look at the hearing aid. I did stop in the same day I called. I walked through the door gave the receptionist my hearing aid and proceeded to sit down and wait. I sat for no more than three or four minutes when they brought back the repaired hearing aid and I was on my way. I'm a musician and needed in ear monitors, so i got my ear flushed and had ear impressions made for a company i ordered through. They also do IEM's here too, but i already had my mind set on the company i chose. My right ear is pretty small, so Lacey said that i could come back and get another one done for free if the company who is doing my IEM's says that they need another one. The process was very relaxing and the staff were very attentive. We had tea made while we waited too, which was nice. I'll go back for future ear flushings if needed. Booking an appointment was also easy. That and good friendly service is a hard thing to find these days.read more

Let me explain: Upon our return to Calgary from Thailand after a 50 year absence, my wife, Agnes, had severe hearing problems. She was introduced to Dr. Rose at Bow River Hearing at 16 Ave. NW Calgary. A fretful newcomer, Agnes was quickly set at ease by Rose's professionalism, coupled with a sense of compassion and thoughtful, patient care. At this point in time Agnes, replete with a special hearing devise, is now able to socialise very much better in a more normal, care-free manner than she had done previously. O my gosh. I was beyond anxious about finding a new audiologist because I am Deaf as in I was born deaf and I know ASL. I had lost my hearing aid and needed a new one. I first met a woman name Karen Jensen who knew little sign language last year which influenced my decision in choosing Bow River Hearing. I was upset to learned that she was no longer with the company and I was not connecting with the new specialist. She could not understand my concerns and spend half of the appointment trying to hook up my hearing aid. She ended up making it worse. I emailed with a complaint and they quickly made an appointment with Brooke Saxbee who knew little ASL and David Lee who is the owner of Bow River Hearing. David Lee is a brilliant man who know what he is doing. He asked me questions and is extremely interested in how much I could hear. He explained how brain work with sounds. I learned things that I've never knew about. He actually made me feel excited to try experimenting with different options instead of sticking with old methods! He gave me few options and I expressed my concerns about fiance due to me being under contract with my current hearing aid. He understood and was willing to work with me which made me feel so relieved. Brooke Saxbee is relearning ASL but she understood a bit about Deaf Culture. She reminded David to talk slower whenever he get excited. She also reminded him that it was important for me to see him talk and made sure I could see everyone talk. She is a fun person to talk with. She even mentioned about the option of hearing aids having colours as my current one is black (Ugh. Black.) And today is the day when I once again fell in love with Bow River Hearing. I'm actually looking forward to the next appointment!read more

Lucy was very patient and professional. She is a very compassionate and caring person and does want the best for her patients. At the end of 75 days trial, my dad wanted to keep his hearing aid so that was great. Lucy did a minor adjustment for him and he was invited to come back anytime for servicing. I have been a customer for Bow river hearing since 2008. I have been using hearing aids for 35 years and I have been dealing with many people at different countries but I never found such amazing and excellent service like Bow River Hearing. David Le is very very professional and really care about each specific case and he tries his best to provide the best for each patient. I remember starting from my first visit he worked so hard to analyze my situation and provide me the best hearing aid. He called me when he knows that there is something new that works better for me. He is also so flexible and because he feels our suffering and he knows if we can't hear well we can't live well he is always so patient and never give up until I am 100% satisfied.David Le is able to take a risk to provide better life for his patients. Bow river hearing is the only place that provides financial solutions for thier patients. I recently had my hearing assessment performed by David Lee at Bow River Hearing. David was punctual, efficient, very professional and personable at the same time. I am pleasantly surprised to realize how much I was missing in my social and professional interactions as a result of my hearing loss. My high levels of stress led me to check my hearing. I was not fully aware of the impact hearing loss has on health related quality of life. David immediately provided me with meaningful information about my treatment options, and I was lucky enough to be fitted with hearing aids on the next day!!! Jonathan and his team were very helpful in finding a remedy for my irritated and itchy ears. I had seen a doctor whom suggested I use any moisturizer but that didn’t take away any of the itchiness. I turned to Bow River Hearing and found that the team not only specializes in hearing equipment, but is also knowledgeable on all aspects of the ears. They promptly found a topical skin serum for my ears that helps with the dryness, irritation and itch. I am very happy for the efficiency of Bow River Hearing and highly recommend their services.

Several months ago, my husband got frustrated with me and demanded I get my hearing checked as I was asking him to repeat himself constantly. My doctor referred me to this branch of Bow River Hearing where Laurie and Karen, both super friendly and helpful, took care of me every step of the way, supporting me through the process of the exams. I was recently the recipient of the "Gift of Hearing" program; a program I had no idea they even had! The audiologists recommend patients and a lucky few are chosen for the gift of free top-of-the-line hearing aids. From testing, to selection, to fitting, the team at Bow River hearing has made this a very positive experience - being able to hear again, after not realizing just how bad it was, is simply wonderful!

My wife was selected for a complimentary hearing aid by the team at the Bowness location. The service and people are amazing, they were very thorough and spent as much time as needed to answer all of our questions. So far the hearing aid has helped immensely for both my wife and myself, it's nice to not be repeating myself all day, and my wife loves being able to hear from both sides. Overall a Fantastic experience.

Seven and a half months into my hearing aid experience, and still a very happy customer! My family has greatly enjoyed a more "present" father and husband! Have found the rechargeable battery system a very workable daily routine and have experienced the stress free advantage of not wondering if my aids will have full power for a full day! Up until just recently, I have had the great pleasure of dealing with Lori, Nikki, and David at Bow River Hearing. Lori's customer service is second to none, and I have never felt better served than when in her capable hands. David's knowledge is wide and abundant. Nikki is friendly, smiles easily and is a pleasure to do business with. It is easy to see and sense that they are a Customer Centric organization, and give their customers great value, in equipment, knowledge and customer service. (They got great candies too). My departure as a customer was due simply to convenience for me based upon where I work and live, but given the opportunity I would not hesitate to deal with them again. 5 Thumbs up.

I phoned Lori and made an appointment for the first available time slot to adjust my hearing aid with David. My family and co-workers had encouraged me to do so because I was increasingly hearing the words in conversations and meetings but not understanding everything discussed...I was missing bits and pieces-not good. I hadn't seen David since about 2011, he explained that he had a new approach...WOW! He spent about 2 hours on me: made have lunch with him, thoroughly retested my hearing, explained everything-made sure I understood ALL MY OPTIONS. Honestly, I arrived quite pessimistic, my hearing had taken a drastic turn for the worse...when I left, my frame of mind had done a 180 degree turn to "fairly optimistic", for my situation. On the drive back to work, with my freshly adjusted hearing aids, I heard all sorts of sounds that I'd not heard in a couple of years! I highly recommend David and the staff at Bow River Hearing! I went to this place because of the good reviews here. So far my experience has gone from bizarre to excellent. I can say they are very responsive to feedback and try to make things right. Customer oriented. I am very glad to have them as my hearing aid specialist. The people are very friendly and want you to be happy with their service. Also the testing room has pleasing and relaxing views of the bow river. It can help if you are getting a little stressed to relax. And the staff brought me herbal tea. It took some tries and patience but Dr. Lee was able to get a fitting for the lyric hearing aid in both ears. This is the kind of hearing aid you wear in the ear canal for months at a time, 24/7, and then replace. You can adjust the volume and put it to sleep with a magnetic wand. It takes some adjustment to get used to wearing the device. So far I'm on day 2. I love my better hearing so far. Hopefully in a few days I'll not notice it in my ear anymore. I've had hearing loss in mid and high frequencies for quite a few years. Over that time I learned to compensate by lip-reading, also called speech-reading. As long as I could see the person's face, I could hear what they were saying. (And I used closed captioning on the TV.) As my hearing loss worsened, these adaptations weren't enough. Listening with my full concentration and lip-reading to fill in the blanks was exhausting and I still had to ask people to repeat themselves or speak more slowly. So, I decided to get hearing aids. I went to a clinic recommended by the ENT that I saw years before. The clinic recommended Phonak hearing aids which I bought. Unfortunately, the hearing aids did not improve my hearing. I could tell they were on but there was very little improvement in volume or clarity. I returned to the clinic many times over the following year but the adjustments made little or no improvement and the audiologist said I should get new hearing aids. I thought there must be something more serious wrong with my ears so I asked my family doctor for a referral to Alberta Health Services audiology dept for a hearing test (which is a free appointment). The conclusion from the AHS audiologist was that my hearing aids just needed adjusting. I also called Phonak, gave them details from my AHS audiogram and asked them if I had the correct hearing aids for my hearing loss. They said yes. So, back I went to the original clinic and had my hearing aids adjusted again. Not much improvement so I returned several more times for more adjustments. At each appointment the audiologist tried to sell me new hearing aids. But, based on the AHS audiologist and the Phonak rep I talked to on the phone, I didn't need new hearing aids, I just needed my current hearing aids adjusted. This situation was very frustrating. I had almost given up hope on ever hearing properly. Then, someone suggested Bow River Hearing on 16 Ave NW. I thought it might be worth a try so I called them for an appointment to adjust my hearing aids. Right away, at the very first appointment I was impressed with the hygiene precautions David, the audiologist, took with my hearing aids. (My old clinic never cleaned their hands before touching my hearing aids or my ears.) David also took the time to ask key questions and explain things to me. He adjusted my hearing aids but, they did not seem to work any better. So, I went back for a second appointment. It was at this second appointment that the miracle happened. It turns out, the computer program that the original clinic installed in my Phonak hearing aids was NOT the specialized Phonak program. So, the sound quality was poor and the adjustments made little difference. At the second appt, David replaced the original computer program with the specialized Phonak program. Immediately, I could hear clearly. Wow! In fact, I'm tempted to ask him to turn them down a bit. So, if you're not getting good volume and clarity out of your hearing aids, or if your clinic is pressuring you into buying new hearing aids, I strongly recommend you make an appointment with David at Bow River Hearing. He's got the expertise to investigate and try different solutions so you can get the most out of your current hearing aids. David accomplished in 2 appointments what my original clinic could not accomplish in over a dozen appointments !

I cannot say enough about how Amazing the service was at Bow River Hearing. I wouldn't even call it service, because to me it felt like I was family. As soon as I walked into the office I was greeted and asked if there was anything they could get me to eat or a snack while I waited for a few minutes. Now I've been to MANY doctors offices and different specialist appointments over my 27 years, and I've gotten good treatment, but this was different. Something about the welcoming and how they treat you, set them apart from all the others. While I waited I had a snack and a drink and I was sitting there amazed. It was an instant feeling when I walked into the office that I just can't explain. When I went in for my appointment I felt like I had already known them because they made me so comfortable and feel like I was family. They explained everything as they went, answered all my questions and said they want to do the same for me as they would for their family..as in take the best care of them and get some answers for the concerns I was there for. From the moment I walked into the office, til the moment I walked away..well and after haha..I was stunned and amazed. I would recommend absolutely everyone I know to go to the same office if they were to have some hearing concerns or even just need a hearing test for work. Absolutely Amazing!!
